The Long Weekend is Here - Memorial Weekend!!

It's time to buckle down and get ready for a very hard weekend of partying and food!!!

I have tomorrow off from work, so I will get up early, walk an hour and bike an hour. I will stay busy throughout the day, maybe doing some Kayaking, and then at night, I will be going to the Full Moon Party to celebrate Sandy's birthdy for alot of dancing on the beach and sweating like crazy!!! I don't need drinks, so I will stick to good ole fashion water.

Saturday, I will be celebrating my mom's 85th Birthday, so there will be alot of goodies around. I will mainly try to stick to the healthy stuff and maybe just tasting the special goodies. I haven't touched my extra 35 points, so I should be able to do well.

Sunday and Monday are free days, so I expect to get in some morning and some afternoon exercise. I will try to barbecue and stick to the plan.

I am on a mission and it CANNOT fail. My weigh in will be on Tuesday, since Monday is Memorial Day. I expect to see a number lower than 159.1 =)

The Biggest Loser

I loved watching the Biggest Loser. What an inspiration!! It is amazing the amount of weight they have all lost. Of course, losing weight was the only thing they had to worry about for a while, but still, all them people that were at home, balancing life with their exercise routines and they did great!!! If they can lose all that weight, how come we make such a big deal about losing 20 - 50 pounds? Sure, it is still alot of weight, but if we are persistent, eventually we will get there!!

It goes back to "no slacking"!! If you want to drop some significant weight, then every single day is an important day to lose weight. No weekends off, no get togethers off, no birthday parties off....we must decide, what is really important. I'm not saying to taste something special, but tasting and pigging out are two different things. Don't tell me that you have been doing great on your diet and still not losing weight, because if you stick to it, the weight does come off!!! You are only lying to yourself!!! I know when I am doing good and I know when I have screwed it up, and believe me, doing good feels alot better!!!!

Don't you want to be a Biggest Loser? I know I do!!!

The Commitment to Exercise

Exercising is crutial. Exercising is non-negotiable!!!!! I don't care how old you are or how young you are, when you exercise, you feel bettter and you will have more energy. As you get older, if you do not exercise, you feel like a big turd. If you don't use it, you lose it. Since I decided to get off my fat ass and exercise, I feel so much more energized! It is hard to find the time, and everything gets delayed, but it is so worth it!

Mainly I have been walking an hour a day with Herman or biking an hour. I even went to the gym yesterday to start some weight resistance!! I want my muscles to be toned. Unfortunately, I have done damage to my skin elasticity, and there is no fixing that, but I can work on my body to feel good about it. If I had to do it all over again, I would NEVER EVER have allowed myself to lose control of my body in this way. When I was young, I use to go to the gym 3 hours a day, and bike ride everywhere. I was obsessed about being physically fit. Once I got married and had the obligations of life, it's like I did not have time to take care of me. One must balance their life and part of the obligations of life is to take care of yourself first!

A Little Help from My Friends - Support

Following a plan is so much easier when everyone around you is also in the same boat!! This time around it is easier for me, because Herman is really trying to lose weight also. He is not tempting me or driving me crazy, by telling me constantly to go out and eat. He is actually enjoying all the foods that I am making for him.

But if someone living with you was not in your game, then you would really have to be stronger and not let it affect what you have planned. You would have to fight hard and not give in to all the temptations. This is my journey and NO ONE can deviate me, but ME.

It also helps when you have the support of your friends. Whether it is a compliment or a healthy meal to share or a comment on the blog, all of it helps!!! The more cheerleaders you have, the easier it is to stay on track!!

Fruits and Salads

It's All Mental

Sticking to a diet is all MENTAL. When you set your mind to something and you stick with it, any diet will work. Sometimes you even have to talk to yourself. When I am about to eat something that I did not plan, I find myself talking to myself on how many points do I have left and to stay focus. After that internal conversation, I usually win!!

It's not easy, but it is so worth it! Afterall, the food will always be there and if you are in control, you can always be careful with your portion size and plan what you will eat, and still not miss out on any of the foods.

When my friends are tempting me to eat, and say, "but it's only today", I must resist and let them know that I am on a mission. Only I know what I can and cannot eat for the day, and I will not let anyone derail me.

Are you mentally there? What does it take to get you in the right frame of mind?

When I gain weight, my midriff gets bigger than my tummy, so what happens is that my panties would roll downward to bikini instead of stay on my waist. I HATE THAT!!! You have no idea, how uncomfortable that can be!! As I am losing weight, they are rolling down less and soon they will NOT roll down at all...I will fight to make that happen. I will lose weight, so that I am comfortable in my clothing!!!!

Breakfast
Lite Egg McMuffin = 3 points
Lite Tropicana OJ = 1 point

Grocery List

I'm the kind of person that needs a grocery list, because I am always in a hurry and because my mind cannot remember what I need. As I need things, I add them to the list. If I am trying a new recipe, I add the items to the list. The grocery list is so important now, because it is a major part of being prepared for the rest of the week. I can't even imagine if I were out of grapes lol I eat certain things every day, and I want to make sure that I do not run out!!

As you shop, it is also important to try a new item every week. Even though I mainly eat the same things every week, the taste buds like something new. Take the time to find a new low calorie snack or a new spice to add to the food.

DO NOT go to the grocery store hungry. You will be out of control and might give in to a temptation! I used to go on an empty stomach and then by the time I made it home, I would have eaten about 4 points of a snack food. Now I do my groceries after dinner.

If you are on Weight Watchers, always take your point finder with you. Know the points of a food, before bringing it home. More or less 50 calories is one point.

Do you have any tricks for Grocery Shopping?

Oh's cereal = 2 points

Grapes and String Cheese = 2 points

My fruits were so good!!! Everyone enjoyed them, and they didn't even realize that they were sugar free and fat free!!

On Mother's Day, there were alot of goodies to eat at the in-laws. Before I left the house, I had a good breakfast, so I was not starving when I got there. I tasted everything in moderation. When I got home I had a nice salad and some veggie soup.

I walked like crazy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Also did some biking and went to the gym once. Staying active is so good for the metabolism and for your well being!

Herman is also doing very very well. His starting weight was 275 and he is now at 250....a 25 pound weight loss!

Busy Busy Busy

I tried so hard to write a blog yesterday, but time did not allow me. Sorry!!
I had a great day yesterday. I woke at 6:30am and went for a 50 minute walk, showered, ate breakfast and then got my mom ready for a doctor's appointment.
I made sure to pack some snacks, so that I can avoid temptation.
When I got home, I barbecued some chicken with a nice, big salad that tasted like heaven!!!
Since I missed work yesterday, I had alot of catch up at work also, so the blogging got a little delayed in the day.
Life will always be hectic and busy, but if you commit to something, then you must find a way to get it done. NO EXCUSES to just quit and let one day turn into two, then three, then before you know it, you have quit and there is no more commitment. BE PASSIONATE!!! When you are passionate about something, then you will have the energy and the will to get it done!!
The weekend is around the corner and I am looking forward to the next weigh in!!
We had a lunch celebration at Weight Watchers at Work today, and I ate about 8 points. I did eat a yummy fruit dip that is so easy to make.
FRUIT DIP
1 small package of Jello Sugar Free Instant Vanilla Pudding
1 cup of milk
Mix those 2 first and then mix that into a tub of Fat Free Cool Whip.
It's heavenly!!!!!! I forgot the points, but I believe it's one point per TBSP.
Well, that is it for today. I usually write my blogs up at home the night before and post them in the afternoon. That schedule really works for me. Gotta find what works for you and JUST DO IT!

Setting my first goal

I will be going on a couple of vacations in June, so it's time to set a goal now. Is a 3 pound weight lost every week attainable?? I think its possible, but it may be a little too much. I have 5 weigh ins before vacation, so lets say between 10 - 15 pounds. It is definitely doable. 10 for sure and 15, we can strive for =).

I didn't get to walk last night, because I did grocery, then cooked, then clean, then just did stuff. NOT GOOD!!!! I need to make time. It has to be a priority. I need to get out of the house at 7pm and exercise till 8pm. It must be part of my routine and nothing should stop that. Unfortunately, today, I am having a get together with some old friends and I won't be home till later.......sooooo no exercise today either. Tomorrow, I WILL EXERCISE!!!!

Food wise:
Breakfast:
Grapes and string cheese = 2 points
Fiber Plus Bar = 2 points

I went out to eat lunch with the girls and we ate at Borgello Bistro at the Falls. DELICIOUS!!!

I had one coconut shrimp, a little calamari and an incredible fresh salad with a few bites of dessert. I will count it all as 16 points. It is so hard to be accurate on points when you are eating out =(

Dinner will also be unknown, because everyone is bringing something to eat. I must be determined today!!! I will get a plate and eat only 5 points worth of food and no drinks. I will concentrate on the conversation and enjoy the company. NO CHOICE!!!

I have set a goal and now I must work at achieving it!!!

Do you have any real goals set?

He lost 17 pounds and that is without exercising.
